Finally..... a double digit!!

Good afternoon, guys... I just wanted to share with you guys the good news!! Our daughter Naomi is finally a ----- DOUBLE DIGIT!!!! Yesterday was her birthday and to celebrate - she had her girl cousins come for a sleepover! N wanted steak for her b-day ( rib eye no less! ) so daddy grilled last night. My sister brought over the girls and brought a chocolate cookie cake and a whole bunch of goodies!! The girls had a blast ( tents in the garage!! ) Daddy pulled me aside and told me that N asked him why was mommy calling her a "double midgit?" Ha-ha!! He gently corrected her and said, "Baby, she is calling you a double digit!" ----Kids say the darndest things!!

On a even bigger high - we received word last night that the house I fasted for 2 yrs ago is now being offered to us for rent w/ the option to buy!! GOD IS GOOD!!!

Trying to make a Day at the Witte....

Have you ever just totally forgotten to do something that absolutely had to get done? Well, Tuesday was one of those "realization" moments!! The kids and I at times will try to go to the Witte Museum on Tuesdays because they are free from 3-8pm. So, Chris had set it up with Tiff, Brianna and their mom Anita a get together at the Witte - without telling me anything. I had a few things to do and I was not in a rush to get to the museum. So we finally leave at 4:30pm. They had been waiting since 3 pm. --- Hello? ---

Chris was like "Mom, they're already leaving!!"

"Who, Chris?"

"Tiffany and them..."

"Were they expecting us?"

"Yes, I told you!!"

( He had not told me because if he had - I would've made every effort to be there on time...)

So, we head off and get onto I10 and then I35N and get caught in a traffic jam!! We make it there about 6 after 5. As we are turning onto Funston street, I pass a park police and we all wave as we pass. Well, he turns around unbeknownst to me and turns on his lights! I keep on going and the kids are like,"Mom, the cop is coming behind us with his lights on." I look into the rear view mirror and sure enough here he comes! I make a left into the Witte parking lot and it was jam packed due to Spring Break!! We are at a stand still and the policeman gets off and says to turn into the next available space. I finally turn into a handicap spot and he pulls up right behind us. I am trying to figure out why he has pulled us over and the kids are all excited and of course an audience has gathered.....Chris, quick - give me the insurance from the glove compartment. What? It just expired? I had forgotten to replace it with the new one.

"May I see your license and insurance?"

"Yeah, here you go..... what is the problem?"

Here comes my moment!! He points to my inspection sticker ( It was expired since January!!!! )

"I'm sorry officer! It totally slipped my mind!!"

"That's ok... it happens at times... I'll be right back."

He goes off to check my info and I call hubby to let him know what was going on...... apparently it had slipped his mind too.... When the officer returned he issued me two citations: one for expired inspection sticker and the second for no insurance. He did assure me that they could be easily dismissed when I take care of them and show the judge. ( COOL!! ) He waves bye to the kids and then just as he's about to leave he turns around and says,

" Did you know it's illegal to drive without your shoes on?"

"............WHAT???" I looked confused.....

He laughed and said he was just kidding and for us to have a great day!!

................Needless to say - we didn't make it to the Witte and just turned around and went home.

I'm back!

Good morning, fellow bloggers!! Yes, it's been a long while since I've written anything. I was thinking to myself this morning that I am so selfish... I religiously look for new updates on everyone else's blog ( every morning!! ) but I fail to update mine!!! ( Gasp, shock and horror!! )

So, I am going to give it another shot and try to keep up. :O)

Lately, things have been going very well other then Chris being sick and now we need to have a (GI) Gastro Intestinal specialist see him. For some reason he can't seem to keep his food down at times. At night, he will awaken 2+ times and throw it up. His Dr. has ordered blood work, and a CT scan and they came back normal. He prescribed Zantac and now Prilosec but to no avail - it only worsens the situation. Chris has lost about 20 lbs. and through it all has remained a delight to be around! What an amazing young man he is becoming! I see him growing in the Lord and it fills my heart until it wants to burst!!

My other son Daniel is doing well. He too is growing in the Lord and his questions (and answers) at times truly amazes me! He truly is wanting to live according to God's will and his heart is full of love and compassion for the lost. He is at the present very interested in the two men from the Travel the Road series. ( traveltheroad.com ) For those who haven't seen or know about them - they are awesome!! To be alongside them as they are in their missionary work and to see how the Lord moves is awe inspiring.) D has said that he might be inclined to head in that direction ( at this age ) so that in itself blesses me!!

Now, Naomi - she continually blesses me each night when we pray and I hear her prayers!! (Knock me down with a feather.) The words that flow from her mouth are so beautiful! And to think that I have front row seats to it all!! I am truly blessed.... although I have to step back and wonder, " Where does her attitude come from?" Ha- ha!! She has been praying about her attitude towards her brother Daniel so that is a plus! But through it all who's room does she end up in when Chris is staying overnight somewhere - Daniel's.......? Hee-hee, was I the same way? :O)

As for the hubby and I - we are good.... our walk with the Lord continues to grow and we are truly blessed with where the Lord has us right now... the Church family, our Pastor, the soon to be move-in ready church building!! We are so excited with the what the Lord has been doing in our church family! We have really grown closer and the up and coming ministries are wonderful..... Dinner for Six has been terrific!! When we hosted the first one with our group - it was such a blessing to get to know others in a more intimate setting!! What makes it even better is the food!! Food always makes everything better.... We served bar-b-que ( chicken, beef fajitas, pork steak, sausage) Juana brought potato salad, Oyuky/Victor brought corn on the cob, Stacie/Troy brought the most delicious cake!! When I get the recipe - I will definitely pass it on!! It had chocolate everything on it with caramel and crunchie stuff and uhhhhh.... it was rich but it was not too sweet as crazy as that sounds!! ( I really like this cake!! - Can you tell? )

Little Daniel made an interesting comment to my hubby and I the other day. He said he would be very sad if we ever had to leave this church. ----- wow!

Awesome God....

I can only say that I Serve An Awesome God!!! In a previous blog, I mentioned that D had a lump of some sort growing on his kidney... well, we received the results on Tues. and this lump has shrunken considerably! My God is Good!! I am always in awe when He shows His answer to prayers... Wow.... :O)

Hurricane Ike...

Well, I'm sure you have seen the news that Ike was certainly headed to Corpus Christi. So, D says Wednesday (10th), " Just giving you a heads up that we might have company." Well, in a mad dash - I stop school and tell the kids to help me!! I had decided to go to the LaundryMat to wash everything. I finish separating everything, meanwhile, the kiddos totally cleaned their rooms in case they needed to be offered. ( Under the bed, closet, etc ) (N's was overdue!) Just as we were finishing up and about to load up... my good friend Tina calls and needs to borrow the Explorer because her vehicle was actin' funny. So off she goes and my trip to the laundrymat is postponed until she returns.....

Meanwhile...

We are still cleaning and making everything extra comfy for our guests. It's hard to feel at home in someone else's home so try, try, try to make them feel extra welcome...... almost done..... Tina by now has called and is returning! ---------Kids, I'll be back----- gonna drop off Tina & boys---

Off to the Laundrymat....... roughin' it 2+ hours with countless other women/men also on a mission. "Mom, can I..?"----No, I have to finish! "Mom, I'm tired..." Sorry, I am almost done....

We're done!! We take off to the house...... unload the Explorer, (Suburban's in the shop), put away everything --- Done!!!

Later that day, D come home. Hasn't heard anything from our guests....

Evening comes....Lights out!! Goodnight!!!

Ok, so I had to let ya'll in on something that happened to us Tuesday (12th).

Daniel and I went to his appt wth Dr. Morris who by the way is an amazing Dr. We get there, sign in and gave our $100 dollar deposit then have a seat. We are called in and meet this wonderful nurse who unfortunately we can't remember his name :( but he was very helpful and thorough with his answers and on top of that - funny!! Well, when the doc comes in - he's very down to earth and we let him know that D is scheduled for an CT Scan on the (18th). He says he would also like to see the results for the scan and says to hang on - he's gonna see what he can do. OK - so he leaves the room and after about 10 minutes comes back and tells us this appt was to be rescheduled and that he is going to refund our deposit!!

(Hallelujah!!)

Of course - D and I are shocked bcuz that is unheard of.... the Dr then proceeds to spend another 2 or so hours with us showing us Daniel's previous CT Scan and why another one is being ordered. Turns out there is a ball? or lump? growng out of D's kidney and they want to take a better look.

.......Seems like lately Satan is really messing with D. Just when we think the waters are calming - this huge wave just comes!! But, I know that ALL has been filtered thru His Hands and He never gives us more than we can bear!!

Hello-hello!!! ...again

Hey ya'll!! So how has everyone been? Boy, I finally have some sit down time to catch up!! I've been so busy!!!! First of all, Chris is back!! He really had a blast and I can see a change in him... for the better of course... We bought him a Zune player for his b-day when he got back so he's really excited!! But I just had to share what happened in the store that day... while the kids were in the electronics dept - I had went off to find a few items I needed to buy but before I had left - Naomi asked if she could buy a movie. (Ok but let me check it out), when I returned - she had already placed it in the basket. Chris picked it up and told her to find another movie. She was like, "Why, Chris?" He said, "No, I don't think these are the kind of people you should be looking up to." I was dumbfounded!!!! The movie was (HighSchool Musical 2) which - ehhh - not for me.... or us for that matter.... Well, needless to say, Naomi was upset but settled for Enchanted. When we got home - he pulled her aside on his lap and said to her," Naomi, I wasn't trying to be mean - I just think these are the kind of people you shouldn't be looking up to. We need to find you better role models." :O) My heart lept for J-O-Y!!!!! My son actually made sense to his sister......

Lately, I'm been trying to catch up on my sleep!! It all started Thursday with preps for a party for my folks to be held on Saturday (8/2) to celebrate b-days!! We stayed up late cooking, prepping, just to wake up early Friday and continue!! Saturday, my brothers, sister and I set up the dance floor, decorated the yard, tables, etc, and the DJ arrived!! We had a blast!! I saw so many aunts, uncles and cousins I hadn't seen in a long time!!! I met new second cousins, etc... My parents danced the night away which is always refreshing for me to see.... The crazy part of the night was when my aunt Mary jumped up and started yelling that something was in her ear. She continued to howl and cry saying it was going further in and was now biting her!! She ran inside with the rest of us trying to figure out what was going on!! She didn't want anyone touching her ear so we called EMS. The Fire dept along with an ambulance roared to a screeching halt in front of our party!! They went in and were able to help out my aunt. A roach this ( BIG ) went into her ear and was biting her!! (UGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!) I was grossed out!! Well, I made it home around 2 a.m. b-cuz I had to teach Sunday!! :0) All in all - the party was great!! We are even thinking about having Easter there!!

Still no rest...... Monday I had an appt with the CPA, Tues an appt for Chris, Wedn an appt with my father in law and then spent the rest of the day with Daniel (hubby) @ the hospital because the PICC line came out of his arm, and Thurs went back to the hospital to reinsert the PICC in the other arm!!! So, today is Friday and I am now finding myself trying to catch up with housework!! Oh joy.......
